Installation & Finishing - Sports flooring requires more care than typical hardwood flooring.  Wider expanses of floorboards are prone to more noticeable moisture and heat induced expansion and contraction.  Thus, extra attention must be taken to minimize wood movement.  Your sports flooring should be one of the last items installed and finished.  To ensure success, we recommend the following:

§ Building should be weather tight.

§ If over concrete, concrete should be fully cured.  Check slab and sub-floor moisture content prior to proceeding with work.

§ Concrete or plywood sub-floors should be dry.  We will check moisture content prior to beginning work.

§ Sub-floors and stair substructure should be flat, level and true to 1/8" within a ten-foot radius.  Preparation or leveling for proper tolerances to receive plywood sub-floor subsystem or sleeper system and wood flooring is not included in our installation quotes.  Minor leveling/shimming is included.  Others will handle concrete leveling.  Sub-floor leveling is available on time & materials basis.

§ HVAC should be operational at least 48 hours weeks (two weeks is preferable) prior to delivery of materials.

§ Flooring should be delivered in advance to allow at least five days (ten day days is preferable) acclimatization prior to installation.  Two weeks are to be left after installation, prior to sanding and finishing.

§ Normal occupied conditions for temperature, humidity, and ventilation should be maintained before and during the duration of the project.

§ Overhead work should be completed prior to initiating flooring installation.  No other trades should be working in the areas during floor finishing.

§ Installation should be continuous, without interruption from other trades.

§ We recommend no less than 72 hours (five days if preferable) drying time before covering the floors.

§ Construction dust should be reduced to acceptable levels.

§ Dust control, including temporary walls, provided, installed, and removed by others to control dust migration from work area into surrounding areas.

§ Onsite, environmentally conditioned space should be available to stage flooring and other materials.

§ During our installation, every effort is made to minimize damage to finished walls and trim.  Some scuffing, dings and scratches are, however, likely.

§ Suitable arrangements for electrical power access for lighting, hand sanders, edgers, saws, drills, and heavy-duty floor sanders must be planned for.  Requirements are for at least two, (2) 220-volt 30-amp double-pole breaker within 200 feet (as a cord travels) of all floor surfaces.  Additionally, multiple 110-volt accesses will be required.
